The Restorers of Alchemical Manuscripts Society (RAMS)

RAMS started out as a cupboard that Frater Albertus had at the PRS (Paracelsus Research Society) which was filled with old alchemical manuscripts, back when owning an alchemical tome wasn't considered fashionable or of value (contrasted to today where any book that has occult overtones seems to go for ridiculous prices!) Frater's cupboard drew the attention of Hans Nitzel, a prominent student of Frater Albertus's, who himself would later go on, by his own account, to create the famed Philosopher's mercury, the alchemical dissolvent for men and metals.

With a dedicated team of translators Hans started translating books into English for the first time that were rare or badly in need of modern translation, with a view to focusing specifically on texts that shed light on the core tradition of alchemy which is of course, the laboratory praxis - of which many modern discussions and views on alchemy are sorely lacking. Hans and his team printed these books for hungry tyros of the Hermetic art to buy and read, before much later transitioning to a digital collection.

Still going strong today the RAMS collection is, at least for us, the best digital collection of alchemical texts available anywhere in the world. With over 10,500 pages all available now in PDF format on a USB drive, for only $54 Australian dollars.

We received nothing for endorsing RAMS, we just want to spotlight the great work they continue to do.
